Abstract

A rally, often referred to as a “demo,” is a protest movement carried out by a group of people in a public space. These demonstrations are usually used as a means to express the group's opinion or as a form of rejection of policies implemented by certain parties. In addition, demonstrations can also be a tool of political pressure for groups with certain interests. The purpose of this research is to understand how Brimob handles rallies in the Surakarta jurisdiction and to identify the obstacles faced and solutions applied by the Brimob command unit in handling rallies in the region.

Research methods include a series of activities carried out by researchers to collect data or information and investigate the data that has been obtained. This method provides an overview of the steps and procedures followed in the research, including the time of implementation, data sources, and data collection and analysis techniques. In this study, researchers used a Juridical Sociological approach, which combines legal aspects with social conditions. The researcher conducted interviews and observations to dig deeper into the process and role of Brimob in handling demonstrations in the Surakarta area, describing the data obtained from the field in detail related to activities, procedures, stages, reasons, and interactions that occur.

The results show that anarchism is a political philosophy that advocates a society without a state or is often interpreted as a voluntary institution that regulates itself. Some authors define anarchism as a more specific institution based on non-hierarchical free association. The concept of anarchism argues that the existence of the state is undesirable, unnecessary, or even harmful. Moreover, anarchism rejects authority or hierarchical organization in any form of human interaction, so its rejection is not limited to the state system.
